Olá a todos!
Bem-vindos à UC de Multimédia e Arquitecturas Cognitivas do Programa Doutoral em Multimédia em Educação.
Durante esta semana, e até à sessão presencial da próxima sexta-feira, lançarei alguns conteúdos para os quais solicito o vosso comentário/sugestão/crítica/you name it.
Para começar, gostaria de ler a vossa posição relativamente a este vídeo do Mike Wesch.

In my point of view, this video, besides the questions of collaborative learning and collective intelligence, addresses the issues of active approach to teaching and the role of the teacher in the digital era. Nowadays many teachers question themselves: what is my role in the classroom, when there are so many answers available on the Internet? What do my explanations worth when students can retrieve the same information from the world wide web in different formats? Why do I need to lecture is students are inattentive anyway and use their computers to chat with their friends online? Accordingly, should the use of personal computers be restricted in the classrooms?
This video is one of the examples how teachers can engage their students into collaborative and innovative learning process and at the same time retain their important role of the teacher. As mentioned by Wesch, many students use social networks and Internet, but not many know how to use them significantly to apply knowledge and innovate. The important role of the teacher is to teach students how to use these technologies and networks to create a meaningful context of application of their knowledge.
Another interest is how to engage Web 2.0 tools into different subjects, that many teachers in different disciplines might also question. Professor Welsch teaches anthropology, however his approach to teaching and engaging students can be adopted by other disciplines. However, how does this approach help learners to create meaning, needs careful attention, observation and feedback from the teachers. That is why, even in the digitalized environment, the role of the teacher can not be substituted completely by technologies and Internet information, however changed into a mediator guiding and inspiring students towards active learning.

Nesta fase em que já tanto, e tão bem, foi dito sobre a entrevista do professor Mike Wesch, salientaria apenas a questão levantada sobre a necessidade de os alunos perceberem “why is it meaningful to learn something”. Acredito que, num processo em que se compreendem as vantagens decorrentes das suas aprendizagens, sobretudo a curto-prazo, os alunos ficarão mais interessados, envolvidos e motivados. Sendo o registo de cada aluno autobiográfico, todos terão um contributo a dar e informação a partilhar com o grupo, da qual todos beneficiarão.
Às inúmeras vantagens das ferramentas da Web 2.0 já referidas, acrescentaria a sensação de apropriação e a visibilidade da contribuição de cada um para um bem-comum.
Perante a postura exemplarmente humilde do Professor Welsh, não posso deixar de acreditar que esta atitude também facilita uma maior aproximação dos seus alunos, que conduzirá necessariamente a um maior bem-estar e motivação.
A longo prazo, antevejo como vantagens do trabalho colaborativo, a prática de uma cidadania mais participativa e, sobretudo, assertivamente mais interventiva.
Às inúmeras vantagens das ferramentas da Web 2.0 já referidas, acrescentaria a sensação de apropriação e a visibilidade da contribuição de cada um para um bem-comum.
